蚊子（mosquito），屬于昆蟲(chóng)綱雙翅目蚊科，約有3000種。是一種具有刺吸式口器的纖小飛蟲(chóng)。通常雌性以血液作為食物，而雄性則吸食植物的汁液。蚊子自帶殺毒器官，無(wú)法通過(guò)叮咬傳染病毒，吸血的雌蚊是登革熱、瘧疾、登革熱病、絲蟲(chóng)病、日本腦炎等其他病原體的中間寄主。除南極洲外各大陸皆有蚊子的分布。其中，以按蚊屬、伊蚊屬和庫(kù)蚊屬zui為著名。

似半球形，有復(fù)眼和觸角各1 對(duì)，喙1 支。觸角（Antenna）有15 節(jié)：*節(jié)稱柄節(jié)（Scape），第二節(jié)稱梗節(jié)（Torus），第三節(jié)以后各節(jié)均細(xì)長(zhǎng)稱鞭節(jié)（Flagellum）。各鞭節(jié)輪生一圈毛，雌蚊的輪毛短而稀，雄蚊的輪毛長(zhǎng)而密。在雌蚊觸角上，除輪毛外，還有另一類是短毛，分布在每一鞭節(jié)上，這些短毛對(duì)空氣中化學(xué)物質(zhì)的變化產(chǎn)生反應(yīng)，對(duì)二氧化碳、乳酸等化合物和濕度尤其敏感，起尋找吸血對(duì)象作用的是短毛，而不是復(fù)眼。
